Embracing Responsible Tourism

Embracing Responsible Tourism

Embracing responsible tourism is crucial at Abersoch Retreats, where we prioritise respecting the environment, community, and culture whilst on holiday. As we gear up for the new legislation in Wales starting on April 6th, focusing on proper waste and recycling practices is essential to ensure a positive impact on our local community. Here's a quick guide for responsible waste disposal to help us all be conscientious tourists:

General Waste:

✅ Dispose of general waste properly.

Paper and Cardboard:

✅ Recycle newspapers, paper, and brown card.
❌ Avoid metallic or glitter wrapping paper, tissues, Tetra Pak drink cartons, and contaminated cardboard like pizza boxes.

Plastic and Small Metals:

✅ Recycle foil, plastic bottles (rinsed, squashed, and lids removed), plastic bottle tops, lids, cartons (Tetra Paks), aerosol cans, and plastic food trays.
❌ Avoid cling film, yogurt pot lids, large plastic items, pill blister packs, bubble wrap, plastic wrappers, bags, and mixed material plastic items.

Glass:

✅ Recycle glass bottles and jars.
❌ Avoid mirrors, glass cookware (Pyrex), and light bulbs.

Proper waste management is vital to prevent:

❌ Missed collections
❌ Guests facing overflowing bins
❌ Seagulls causing a mess
❌ Upsetting neighbours
❌ Unnecessary stress on your holiday

Let's all contribute to a smooth waste collection system this season and practice responsible tourism
